The price is $300.00 for the year, with a $125.00 deposit due at this time. The remainder of the money will be due on the first day of preschool. Your child cannot start the program unless their physical is turned in prior to the start of class and the fees have been paid in full. You will be able to pay the fees here at the Web Store.
The Downers Grove, South Little Mustang Preschool, is planned, taught, and maintained by current DGS high school students who are studying Child Development. The Little Mustangs Preschool program runs three days a week, Monday, Tuesday, and Friday. We serve 2 to 5-year-old children. Your child does not need to be potty trained.
We follow the DGS high school student's schedule and calendar. We will not begin until mid-October and will break in mid-December. Once we have completed winter break, we will start back up in January and end in May. The Web Store will only accept the following forms of payment e-check, debit card, or credit card. Thank you!
You will find the Health Forms you need for LIttle Mustangs at your Doctor's office. Please ensure your Health Forms are completed and turned in by Mid-September to the school nurse. Thank you!
For further information about our program, please continue reading below. Our high school teachers follow the Cycle of 6. They start with planning a developmentally appropriate curriculum (age and stage appropriate), then design their lesson based on the day's theme. Once that is completed, they assistant teach on the floor, then they actually become the teachers on the floor, after teaching they will observe the preschooler's behaviors and reflect on their teaching session from the prior day and finally research current topics in child development that will assist them for planning their next planning and teaching session.
The high school teachers teach and prepare each session in our Little Mustang Preschool. They are not located in another room at any time. I am always in the room and never leave the room unattended. We have a bathroom with a Dutch Door right inside the playschool. Our playschool is separated into half for the teachers planning area and the other half for the preschoolers to learn and play.
We are a play-based preschool focusing on socialization for the first seven weeks and readiness for kindergarten for the 15 weeks in the spring. I train and prepare the high school teachers for the first 8 weeks of school, and then every Wednesday and Thursday is used for my classroom teaching days, which are located in our preschool or our classroom allocated just for us each week. Our high school teachers learn and participate in hands-on activities just as your child would. They can experience the activities before teaching them to your children. By doing this, the high school teachers feel secure in what they are teaching and are able to expand on the knowledge they have previously learned. As they plan for the preschooler's activities, they are able to enhance the lesson to further your child's experiences.
I have a B.S. in Child Development, an M.Ed in Curriculum and Technology, an M.Ed in Educational Technology, and an M.A. in School Administration. I also have 18 years of experience working in the Early Childhood Education and Care field. I started as an assistant teacher and worked my way up to the Director of a Center before becoming an Educator. I hope our Little Mustang Playschool is the right fit for you and your family. I look forward to working with you in the near future.
